Into the Dawn's Embrace

This online poetry book is a representation of many years of written dabbling. I will be adding more poems as I find them in my old notes, scribbled on scraps of paper, scratched into book margins, and doodled on the backs of character sheets.

Legalities aside, I hope you enjoy your time here, turning the virtual pages. I've tried to date my works, but you will find that in some cases I've been reduced to a month and a year, and in the worst cases only a year. At least I'm not bad enough to date them "Written sometime in the 80s" or "Written at some time in my life."

So enjoy, and know that what I have written here is usually the result of some upheaval of my soul. So be forewarned... All of my relationships are here, good and bad, beginnings and endings.

The muse of poetry, Calliope, is fickle. She comes and goes, granting little tantalizing tidbits of text, gracing you with eloquence and verbosity. Other times she stomps her foot and takes all your words away in a huff. So when she comes, you'd better be ready.

ALWAYS carry something to write on and with. You never know when a phrase is going to strike you and inspire something.

If you can invest in a micro cassette recorder, do so. This is an invaluable tool, especially if you get some little ditty stuck in you head that you KNOW you've never heard before. Presto, you've written a song.

Know that writer's block will happen, and if it's got you beating your head against that blank piece of paper sitting on your desk, defy it by writing a poem about it! Ha! Take that, writer's block!
